Follow the Light

About a week and a half ago before the rainy weather began, I caught a sunset at Robert Moses with some really beautiful light.

I explored all around the area in my usual favorite places – the beach, the path to the Fire Island Lighthouse and the Great South Bay. I also took another way off the lighthouse path and found a walkway to the beach that looks like a road, which made for some shots that I really love.

Enjoy and here’s to hoping the weather goes back to normal soon!

Up Close & Personal at the Beach

When you go to the beach as much as I do, you are forced to see things in a new perspective. As beautiful as a shot of the sunset over the waves can be, sometimes you need to get in and take a closer look.

I really enjoy taking these close up and extremely zoomed in shots and usually take a couple during a sunset session to mix things up. I either shoot from afar or hold my camera close to the ground and make a run for it when a wave comes in. Getting the golden light from the sun along with a shallow depth of field really change how these small scenes would normally look.

Long Island Views From A Drone

I’ve gathered together my favorite shots from flying my drone above Long Island. Nothing beats seeing these places from a different perspective. Scroll down to the end of the page for video footage from a flight over Robert Moses Beach. For more check the hashtag #fromericasdrone on Instagram!

Spring Preview | Long Beach

This weekend we were treated to warm temperatures reaching 60 degrees! A beautiful look into the warmer weather as we approach Spring. I headed to Long Beach to relax and watch the sunset. The boardwalk and beach were both packed during golden hour. The sun gave off a gorgeous yellow haze onto the shore before setting and creating a subtle rainbow gradient in the sky.

Sand & Snow

One thing I love about winter is the opportunity to visit locations that people don’t normally visit this time of year due to the cold weather. We had some snow here on Long Island the other evening and the next morning I headed out to capture some snowy beach scenes.

First I went to Captree State Park, a small island located in the Great South Bay off of the Robert Moses Causeway. I love it here and the 360 degree views of the bay are great any time of day.

Then I headed down to Robert Moses to catch a quick glimpse of the ocean before a walk along the Fire Island Lighthouse path. A chilly day but well worth it to capture these winter beach scenes.

Later that day I had a portrait shoot and will be sharing those photos in next week’s blog post! Have a great week!
